Community college can be a great place to begin your University
of California education. Last year, more than 9,000 students
transferred from California's community colleges to the University
of California, and one-quarter of UC's bachelor degrees were
awarded to students who started out at a community college.
At UC Santa Cruz, approximately 650 community college transfer
students continued their academic career in the Fall of 1995.
The University is encouraging even more community college
students to take this step in the coming years. For this reason,
the University of California offers a special section of information
for and about transfer students on the web.
Transfer students to UC Santa Cruz may be admitted to the
Theater Arts major on an individual basis in conjunction with
an advising session at the department office.
During the first quarter on campus, transfer students who
have not satisfied the prerequisites may declare the major
after completing a study plan during an advising session with the
Department Adviser. Transfer students must petition to have
equivalent courses taken at other schools count toward the
major requirements. Petition forms and information
on courses and major requirements can be obtained at the department
office, J-106 Theater Arts.
Transfer students are very important to the Theater Arts
Department at UC Santa Cruz. There is a strong movement to
increase the number of transfer students in the program.
