Evan Shen Adler

Professional filmmaker and dancer EVAN SHEN ADLER was born in Santa Cruz, CA, and realized his love for dance and movement arts at a very young age.  As a student at Cabrillo College and UC Santa Cruz, Evan began to understand the importance of knowledge and discipline in dance.

From Indian classical dance to contact improvisation, Evan couldn't get enough of the UCSC Dance Program. While there, Evan had the honor co-directing RandomWAP and working with professor, Edward Warburton, on the project, "The Three Body Problem," a piece exploring the intersection between dance and astrophysics. In 2010, Evan received a BA from UC Santa Cruz in Anthropology and later graduated from the San Francisco School of Digital Filmmaking in 2014.  Evan has been working as a filmmaker and dancer in San Francisco since 2014. Over the years he has had the honor of working with Tandy Beal & Company, FLEX Dance Company, Phantom Limb Company, Pilobolus Dance Theater and RadioLab/Pilobolus collaborations for WYNC.

"I will never forget the impact that the dance community had on me at UC Santa Cruz and how it has shaped me today, I am so thankful to the hard working professors and staff that create this opportunity for each student interested in pursuing dance professionally or academically."
