Monica Ravitch is a scenic designer and painter, returning to UC Santa Cruz as an M.A. Candidate after completing her B.A. in 2018 as a double major in Film & Digital Media and Theater Arts. During her undergraduate education, she accumulated a variety of experience in directing, cinematography, and performance, with a focus in set design for the stage. Some notable design experiences include work on productions such as Zoot Suit, Golden Child, and The Children’s Hour. After spending her summer interning with San Diego’s Diversionary Theatre, she is excited to be back in Santa Cruz to begin her graduate studies. Her M.A. work involves merging her passion for social justice with her design work as she explores the ways in which feminist theory can be applied to the design process.
