Research Interests
As an actor and director Danny Scheie’s work has appeared at Berkeley Rep, Yale Rep, Trinity Rep, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, California Shakespeare Theater, South Coast Rep, Pasadena Playhouse, A Noise Within, Theaterworks, Aurora Theater, The Magic Theater, Intersection for the Arts, Marin Theater Company, Josie’s Cabaret, The Marsh, Center Rep, Los Angeles Theater Center, Battersea Arts Centre, The Pleasance in Edinburgh, HERE in Soho, Seattle Shakespeare Festival, San Francisco Shakepspeare Festival, New Conservatory Theater, Dobama Theater in Cleveland, and the Metropolitan Opera of New York.  He was Artistic Director of Shakespeare Santa Cruz from 1992-1995.

He has worked at Pixar and Lucasfilms’ Industrial Light and Magic.

He received a GLAAD Media Nomination for his work as actor and director on Doug Holsclaw’s The Last Hairdresser at the Zephyr in Los Angeles.  He also received a Backstage West Garland Award for that performance, as well as a Bay Area Critics’ Circle Award.  Other Critics’ Circle Awards include a Lanford Wilson premiere at The Magic Theater, Chuck Mee’s Orestes, Nicholas Nickleby and The Comedy of Errors.  He has received five Dean Goodman awards for acting and directing, including for best supporting actor in a play (Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet) and in a musical (Kurt Weill’s Lady in the Dark) in the same season.
