Students interested in Design and Technology are given the opportunity to take hands-on classes that focus on stage management, set design, costume design, and lighting.
All Theater Arts majors are required to take three-quarters of Thea 50: Fundamentals of Theater Production, a two-unit course in which basic training is offered and work on a particular production required. Additionally, lower-division courses offer introductions to stage management, set design, costume design, and lighting; these are prerequisites to more advanced courses in these areas. Students are also given the opportunity to work as designers for faculty or student-directed productions in order to acquire even more hands-on experience.
