Friday and Saturday, March 5 and 6, 2021 - 7:30pm to Sunday, March 7, 2021 - 3:00pm Zoom Theater
Directed by Raven Arnold and Athena Navarro
UCSC’s annual student dance production, Random With A Purpose, is a collaboratively student-run and student-created dance production. For 28 years, Random has provided students with the opportunity to choreograph, dance in, and produce a collective performance. For the first time ever, the performance will be completely virtual!
Continuum, our chosen theme for this production, will be a celebration of the uniquely human capacity to find connections across time and space. During this time of a global pandemic, when it is more important than ever to focus on connection, we will honor the multi-generational connections that Random With a Purpose has created for the last 28 years and will continue to create for many more. The passing of time and a sense of space are constant experiences that all human beings share. Yet each individual perceives time and space differently at various moments throughout their lives. These are the moments that stick out in our minds as memories, and whether they are good or bad, they shape who we are as people and as artists. With this show we aim to create an environment where these individual experiences can intersect, so that we can share with the public our stories of connection through the constant human experiences of time and space.
